The Mbabane Missionary Conference of 1911, marked the first gathering of the different missionary societies in Eswatini. It was in that Conference where these societies agreed to divide Eswatini into areas of occupation on the one hand, and to further not interfere in one another’s affairs, on the other hand. In the 1920s, however, missionaries in the country began to see the need for unity, and the formation of a standing organization to co-ordinate the activities of the various missionary groups working in Eswatini. In pursuit of unity amongst Christian church organizations, on the 18th October 1929, a meeting of most missionaries working in Eswatini established a permanent body of missionaries called “The Eswatini Missionary Conference”.
